Word Systems was incorporated in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1984. Mike Kinsella, a Vietnam-era Veteran, is a former IBM employee with over 35 years of experience in the computer industry.
Delivering Choices
Inherited service contracts included many Philips “MICOM” word processor customers. We decided to expand our assistance to include third-party maintenance to users of competitive word processors manufactured by IBM, Wang, Lanier, Sony, and others. Customers welcomed having a choice of service providers.
Successful Growth
The 1980’s brought on the “computer revolution” and the need to add desktop computer repair to our offerings. Business took off!
Today
Word Systems is South Carolina’s largest independent third-party computer maintenance company, servicing major hospitals, over 60 state government agencies, and numerous local and national accounts. Our corporate office is in Columbia with satellite offices in Charleston and Greenville.
